Job summary

Engg is seeking an entry-level engineer to work on hybrid perception systems for autonomous spacecraft. You will blend classical robotics perception with modern ML, implementing EKFs, training detectors, and building pipelines that fuse detections with tracking and orbital frame transformations.

Expect hands-on coding in Python and C++, training with PyTorch, and deployment on space-qualified hardware. The role is open to near Centennial, CO or Long Beach, CA with a 3-month term and potential

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed degree in technical field such as CS, Electrical, Robotics or aerospace.
• Coursework in vision and estimation theory or willingness to learn both.
• Proficiency in Python; exposure to C++ is taught on the job.

Responsibilities

• Implement Extended Kalman Filters for state estimation and data association.
• Train neural networks for detection and classification using PyTorch.
• Build hybrid perception pipelines coupling neural detections with classical tracking and coordinates transformations.
• Develop image processing chains (filtering, thresholding, centroiding, CC analysis).
• Deploy models to edge hardware; quantize networks (INT8) and integrate with C++ inference engines (ONNX Runtime, TensorRT).
• Implement coordinate transforms: pixel to camera to body to Earth-Centered Inertial frames.
