Overview

We are seeking a talented Junior Sous Chef for McArthur's, our restaurant serving New American cuisine with Sonoran Desert influences, focusing on farm-to-table ingredients.

Essential Duties
  • Assist in training and coordinating kitchen staff, ensuring high-quality dishes.
  • Support preparation and quality control of various dishes under senior chefs’ guidance.
  • Contribute to daily culinary operations, maintaining efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory levels, assist in stock rotation to minimize waste.
  • Maintain knowledge of menus and recipes for accuracy and consistency.
  • Perform quality checks during food prep and before service.
  • Guide and support kitchen staff, fostering a positive environment.
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met.
  • Assist in managing food costs and reducing waste.
  • Complete prep lists accurately and ensure product quality.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and address operational issues.
  • Interact with guests as needed to ensure satisfaction and dietary needs are met.
Supportive Duties
  • Supervise culinary staff, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Support training and development of kitchen team.
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Address operational or staff concerns per policies and laws.

This is a full-time position requiring availability on days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of culinary experience in a high-volume, high-quality kitchen.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited culinary school or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Food Handler's Card; ServSafe certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with knives and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong understanding of food prep fundamentals.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Basic math skills for food cost and inventory management.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards and kitchen safety.
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment and work under pressure.
  • Familiarity with prep lists and production schedules.
  • Understanding of food waste reduction strategies.
