Job summary

Leidos Defense Sensors’ Uncrewed Systems Integration and Test seeks a Junior Software Engineer to join the JSIL Technology and Certification Center in Huntsville, Alabama. This role partners with subject matter experts to design, develop, and implement UAS software for complex systems.

You will design, implement, and optimize code, document architectures, and collaborate with hardware and network teams while advancing your OO programming skills in Java/C++/C#, and building CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in computer science or related technical field with 2–4 years of experience (or 1–2 years with MS).
• Proficient in object-oriented programming with Java, C++, or C#.
• Experience with Gitlab CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience scripting with Bash, Python, or PowerShell; automating installs.
• Understanding of computer architectures, VMs/containers.
• Strong UNIX or Windows command-line skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 1+ year professional software development experience.
• US citizen with ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• Residence in Huntsville, AL or willingness to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize software solutions; ensure quality, maintainability, and scalability.
• Create detailed technical documentation: designs, APIs, and diagrams; communicate with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with managers, hardware, and network engineers to integrate software, hardware, and networks.
• Stay current with new tools, frameworks, and industry trends to improve performance.
