Job description

Join Marigold as a Junior Software Engineer in Wellington, working on data engineering at petabyte scale with a focus on collaboration and innovation.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Working closely with senior engineers to implement and deploy high-quality, scalable code.
• Writing and maintaining comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Developing software in Python and Java, integrating with databases like Databricks, MongoDB, and Postgres.
• Debugging complex environments, including troubleshooting eventing and ETL issues.
• Participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation with the team.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• A solid understanding of at least one of backend software engineering, devops/infrastructure or data engineering, backed by either a computer science/eng degree or real world experience.
• Skills in Java, Python, SQL, and Linux systems.
• Understanding of Python or Java fundamentals and a willingness to learn.
• Familiarity with agile teams and DevOps best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, including efficient query writing.
• Nice to have: experience with big data technologies, observability tools, and AWS services.
