Job summary

Energy Solutions in Oakland, CA is seeking a Software Engineer I to design, develop, test, and enhance software solutions within an Agile team. In this role you will collaborate with engineers to deliver high-quality applications, implement new features, troubleshoot issues, and support the full software development lifecycle.

This is a hybrid work opportunity with offices in Oakland, CA; Orange, CA; New York, NY; Portland, OR; Chicago, IL; and Boston, MA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, CS, IS, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 1 year of relevant software development experience or internships.
• Experience in a software development environment with established processes and tools.
• Foundations in software engineering principles and programming concepts.
• Understanding of SDLC activities including development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Basic SQL and relational database concepts.
• Familiarity with Git and version control.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum or iterative development methodologies.
• Ability to troubleshoot routine issues and learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Support development, testing, maintenance, and enhancement of software applications.
• Create and execute unit tests to verify functionality and quality.
• Troubleshoot routine defects and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Document code changes and testing activities for maintainability.
• Participate in sprint reviews, planning, and team discussions.
• Support testing and validation to ensure successful delivery.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and apply engineering standards.
• Apply feedback from code reviews and mentoring to improve skills.
• Assist with deployment and release validation across environments.
• Monitor applications and communicate issues requiring investigation.
• Support routine user or system issue resolution within assigned areas.
