Leidos is seeking a Junior Software Engineer in Huntsville to join the JSIL Technology and Certification Center within the S3I Directorate. You will aid design, develop, and optimize software for UAS-related systems, collaborating with hardware, network, and software teams to integration efforts.
The role requires 2–4 years of related experience (or 1–2 years with an MS) and hands-on work with Java/C++/C#, scripting, and CI/CD tooling. Onsite work in Huntsville is required.

Leidos’ Defense Uncrewed Systems Integration and Test is seeking a motivated and ambitious Junior Software Engineerto join the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) Joint Technology Center – Systems Integration Lab (JSIL) Technology and Certification Center. This position collaborates with subject matter experts in the requirements, design, development, and implementation of UAS related software.

Software Development & Optimization: Support the design and implementation of software solutions, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code. Assist with efforts in debugging, and optimization for large-scale systems.
Documentation & Communication: Responsible for creation of detailed technical documentation, including system designs, APIs, and architectural diagrams. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with managers, hardware engineers, network engineers, and other stakeholders to implement system requirements and ensure seamless integration between software, hardware, and network components.
Innovation & Technology Evaluation: Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends, new tools, frameworks, and methodologies that improve the development process and system performance.
BS degree in computer science or related technical degree plus 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or MS degree in computer science or related technical degree plus 1-2 years of prior relevant experience.
Strong experience with object-oriented programming in multiple languages such as java, C++, and C#.
Strong experience using Gitlab CI/CD.
Strong experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell including the automation of system and application installations is required.
Strong understanding of general computing system architectures and virtual machines/containers.
Strong command line experience with UNIX based operating system or Windows command line configuration is required.
Strong analytical and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and projects and to work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be willing to work onsite 100%
Must be a US citizen, possess be able to maintain an active Secret clearance.
Must be a resident of Huntsville, AL or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.

Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00
