Job summary

Inotiv in Rockville, MD is seeking an Associate Scientist I – Bacterial Mutation to contribute to safety assessment through in vitro assays and meticulous documentation.

The role emphasizes precise data records, GLP compliance, sterile tissue culture techniques, and collaboration with the lab manager and study directors; a bachelor’s or associate degree with laboratory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with 1+ years’ experience in a research laboratory.
• Associate degree in a scientific discipline with 3+ years’ experience in a research laboratory.
• Life Science, Chemicals or Healthcare industry knowledge preferred.
• Experience with bacterial/cell/tissue culture and aseptic technique.
• Experience with the Ames assay preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of in vitro assays to characterize product or material safety.
• Maintain detailed data books/documentation and ensure GLP-compliant records.
• Maintain understanding of technological principles and applications of the organization’s services.
• Receive instructions from the laboratory manager or designee and study directors.
• Conduct pre-designed assays using basic laboratory techniques.
• Independently conduct assigned test procedures within lab scheduling constraints.
• Advise lab manager of factors affecting data quality.
