Job summary

Talon Hiring Solutions' client in the greater Birmingham, AL area is seeking a Junior Software QA Engineer with hands-on coding experience to learn automated testing tools and help ensure quality across projects.

You will test web, mobile, and Windows applications, collaborate with developers and product owners, document defects clearly, and apply AI-assisted workflows to streamline test planning and execution.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on QA experience in an Agile environment.
• Ability to translate requirements into test cases and test plans.
• Experience testing web, mobile, and Windows applications.
• Familiarity with functional, regression, exploratory, and risk-based testing.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted QA workflows is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the independent quality gate for customer-facing applications.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and developers to refine requirements.
• Validate features against acceptance criteria and Definition of Done.
• Develop and execute test plans including functional, regression, and end-to-end tests.
• Promote builds through Development to QA and manage the QA environment.
• Review automated test coverage and results to identify gaps and risks.
• Perform hands-on manual testing across web, mobile, and Windows apps.
• Document defects with clear reproduction steps and evidence.
