Job summary

Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Software Engineer role in San Jose, CA. You will join a team building production applications powered by agentic AI, primarily using Python to design APIs and ship features that integrate LLM capabilities into real software systems.

The ideal candidate has 0-2 years of software experience, solid Python fundamentals, API design, and familiarity with agentic AI concepts and related frameworks. Onsite role with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 0-2 years of software engineering experience; internships, co-ops, and substantial projects count.
• Solid Python fundamentals and tooling (git, virtual environments, debugging).
• Experience designing/consuming REST APIs and handling auth/pagination/errors.
• Exposure to agentic AI concepts like tool calling, prompt chaining, or agent loops.
