Job summary

The Municipality of Anchorage seeks a Billing & Coding Specialist to manage daily medical billing and coding for the Anchorage Health Department clinics. You will oversee all cash handling and reporting, and train staff in billing procedures.

Work closely with the Clinic Manager and Nursing Supervisors to ensure policy compliance and accurate revenue cycles within grants and healthcare laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline and experience in accounting, payroll, or similar work.
• Associate’s degree in Accounting or related discipline with two years’ experience.
• High school diploma or GED with four years of accounting/payroll experience.

Responsibilities

• Administers daily medical billing and coding operations for the AHD clinics.
• Oversees cash, checks, and card payments and submits daily cash journals.
• Provides training for staff and coordinates with the Clinic Manager and Nursing Supervisors.
• Acts as liaison between the AHD billing system and functional teams.
• Ensures compliance with grants, healthcare laws and internal policies.
