Job summary

Harris Central Appraisal District in Texas seeks an entry-level appraiser to support the Chief Appraiser by inspecting and recording property characteristics and valuing properties through appraisal judgment and mass appraisal methods. Fieldwork and office duties alternate with meetings with taxpayers to resolve value disputes.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree (Accounting, Finance or Real Estate preferred), a valid Texas driver's license, and progress toward professional licenses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Major in Accounting, Finance or Real Estate preferred.
• Must register with TDLR and work toward licenses.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with proof of liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide property inspection and measurement in the field.
• Check field appraisal records for accuracy and completeness.
• Inspect and measure assigned properties completely and accurately.
• Represent the Chief Appraiser in informal meetings with property owners.
• Maintain a professional and courteous manner.
• Complete required appraisal trainings to achieve Level III within 3 years and Registered Professional Appraiser within 5 years.
• Adhere to USPAP and professional standards.
• Operate PC/Laptop and HCAD’s CAMA software for research and record retrieval.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
