Tri-City Group is seeking a Junior Project Manager to support projects within our Technologies, Structured Cabling, and Mission Critical Divisions. This is entry-level, a first step in a defined career path in Data Center Project Management. This is a great opportunity for someone with field experience looking to transition into Project Management or those with a Construction Management college background.
Essential Duties:
- Support the management of data center structured cabling projects from kickoff through closeout
- Assist with material procurement and tracking for high-density fiber and copper packages, including long-lead items critical to hyperscale schedules
- Prepare and track submittals, RFIs, and closeout documentation to data center owner standards
- Coordinate schedules with field foremen, superintendents, subcontractors, general contractors, and owner's representatives on phased, fast-moving projects
- Participate in project meetings and site walks alongside senior project managers
- Assist with budget tracking and change order documentation on large-scale, multi-phase projects
- Learn and apply site-specific access, security, and safety protocols required in hyperscale and enterprise data center environments
- Support field leadership in enforcing job site safety standards
- Maintain project files, punch lists, and closeout packages
- Support field leadership with new-hire site orientation and onboarding
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 two years of field or technical experience in structured cabling or low voltage
- Education: Bachelor's in Construction Management, low-voltage apprenticeship with hands-on experience or technical education/certification program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (4 Years)
- Interest in mission-critical and data center projects
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work within structured documentation and change control processes
- Clear, professional communication with vendors, project managers, and internal team members
- Willingness to hold self and others accountable to job site safety standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel) and willingness to learn project management software
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications (Not required):
- Experience reading and navigating large, complex construction drawing sets and submittals
- BICSI credentials, or interest in pursuing them
- Prior use of Construction Project management software, including Procore
