About the role

Location: Port Murray, NJ

Hours: Full-Time

Type of Contract: Permanent

Role Purpose: The role holder is responsible for independent operation of the production unit’s daily performance, including Safety, Quality, and Productivity, and for the daily issues in Bay’s operation resulting in minimized OAE losses. This role begins to focus on identifying opportunities for improvement to optimise the production unit.

Responsibilities:

• Heavy emphasis on Safety and Quality
• Perform forklift/truck requirements
• Calculate and make production decisions when the need arises
• Assist in meeting the production schedule goals by completing assignments
• Participate in continuous improvement
• Follow all provisions of operating instructions
• Ensure completion and accuracy of all production order data entry
• Monitor and perform product quality and take appropriate action, including shutdown of process, to prevent or limit production
• Meet standard batch times while maintaining safety and quality
• Follow all quality policies and production procedures to ensure quality product is produced
• Be responsible for their own Safety and that of others within the Production Bay
• Demonstrate equipment operational knowledge and processing skills to independently conduct key production tasks
• Increase operation in ancillary equipment, such as the track mobile, the setup of blowers, and Torit filter systems
• Conduct on-line QC tests to ensure product specifications are being met
• Optimize production cycle with given product mix, including Quality and Productivity for Maximizing Uptime and Minimizing Downtime
• Ensure proactive continuous improvement of plant performance
• Follow daily production instructions, production recipes, etc.
• Ensure accurate raw material usage and production data recording
• Communicate maintenance work required effectively
• Participate in building Teamwork within the assigned production Bay and throughout the plant
• Follow established procedures and work instructions in the department
• Daily close follow-up of product quality; provide feedback on quality deviations
• Define root causes and initiate/carry out corrective actions for quality improvements
• Participate in Safety initiatives and take ownership for improving Safety

About you:

• Strong focus on Safety and Quality
• Good math and mechanical aptitude skills
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs
• High School diploma or GED
• Team player
• Flexibility to work other shifts as production demands

Preferred Experience:

• Forklift experience and/or certification
• At least 1 year in a manufacturing environment
• Batch processing experience
• Plastics manufacturing experience
• 3-5 years experience in Production
• Strong mechanical, hands-on aptitude
• Understanding of the plastics industry, manufacturing, suppliers, customers
