Job summary

Mattel in El Segundo, CA is seeking a focused, technical engineer to support and drive product innovation, turning concepts into manufacturable solutions. You will mentor junior engineers and serve as a liaison with Operations and the NPD team to ensure targets, schedules, and quality standards are met.

You will contribute to engineering BOMs, translate design visions into technical specs, and help define product functions through Functional Specs, while learning Mattel processes and practices

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) and strong fundamentals in engineering principles.
• General knowledge of plastic production processes and assembly techniques for plastic products.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and materials used in toy manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Provide feedback to design & PMs during initial concept stages to determine feasibility of planned toy.
• Assist with the development of new mechanisms to achieve toy functionality goals and create breadboard models as needed.
• Assist in the creation of an engineering BOM.
• Translate design vision for toy into technical specs for development houses, tooling, and plant sites.
• Assist in defining product function through Functional Spec.
• Perform standardized engineering tasks guided by instructions and guidelines.
• Learn and apply Mattel processes and practices across projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners across teams.
