Job summary

New Mexico State Investment Council is seeking a Private Equity Analyst to support the investment team in sourcing, evaluating, and managing private equity investments. This entry‑to‑mid level role offers exposure to diligence, market research, and committee materials in a fast‑paced environment.

The position reports to senior investment professionals and provides opportunities for professional development within private equity and institutional investing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing private equity or institutional investing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
  • Discretion with confidential information.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Interest in CFA or CAIA designation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of financial models including LBO, DCF, and scenario analysis.
  • Support review and interpretation of models prepared by external fund managers.
  • Conduct industry and company research to support investment decisions.
  • Assist with due diligence activities including data collection and coordination with advisors.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, presentations, and reports for stakeholders.
  • Monitor portfolio company performance and support value creation initiatives.
  • Maintain investment pipeline tracking and assist deal execution with cross‑functional teams.
  • Perform market and competitive analysis to identify opportunities.
  • Support deal sourcing by evaluating preliminary opportunities and targets.
  • Prepare materials for investment committee meetings and investor reporting.
  • Coordinate communication between portfolio companies and internal teams.
  • Participate in post‑investment activities such as financial reviews and exit analysis.
  • Contribute to special projects as assigned.
