Job summary

American Electric Power in West Virginia seeks an Equipment Operator Jr to perform semi-skilled manual work in power plant operations, maintenance, or coal yard roles.

You will isolate, inspect, operate and maintain equipment, assist with boilers and coal handling, and ensure safety procedures are followed. The role requires standing up to 12 hours, a valid driver's license, and completion of POSS and MASS tests.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering, industrial or energy technology, or equivalent with related experience.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Able to stand or walk up to 12 hours.
• Successful completion of POSS and MASS tests and related assessments.

Responsibilities

• Isolate, clean, inspect and repair strainers, heat exchangers and dust collectors.
• Operate and maintain portable power tools and equipment; keep areas clean and organized.
• Monitor plant equipment, report abnormal conditions, and write work orders as needed.
• Load/unload materials and operate material handling equipment.
• Assist in preparing boilers and coal handling operations and related tests.
