Job summary

The Fidelity Bank is seeking a Junior Portfolio Manager to develop credit, portfolio management, and business development skills within a structured commercial lending program.

You will work with experienced lenders to progressively take on greater responsibility for managing commercial relationships and loan portfolios in a training-focused environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing an assigned portfolio of commercial loan relationships.
  • Monitor loan performance, maturities, covenant compliance, and risk ratings.
  • Track and resolve loan exceptions, past dues, documentation deficiencies, and collateral requirements.
  • Review borrow financial statements and prepare annual relationship reviews.
  • Assist with construction loan monitoring, inspections, and draw administration.
  • Coordinate with credit administration and loan operations to ensure timely loan servicing.
  • Identify elevated risks and work with Credit Officers, Account Officers, and Portfolio Managers to mitigate risks.
  • Keep leadership informed on risks, trends, issues, etc.
  • Analyze borrower financial statements, tax returns, cash flows, and collateral; prepare memorandums and loan presentations.
  • Participate in underwriting discussions and loan structuring.
  • Develop proficiency in cash flow analysis and risk grading.
  • Evaluate new credit requests and modifications to existing relationships.
  • Participate in customer meetings, annual reviews, prospect calls, and networking events.
  • Develop understanding of commercial products, treasury services, deposits, and lending solutions.
  • Assist lenders in preparing proposals and recommendations.
  • Support cross-selling and referral opportunities; begin building a portfolio of smaller relationships.
  • Complete Fidelity's commercial lending training curriculum and mentorship programs.

Job description

The Junior Portfolio Manager role is designed for emerging commercial banking professionals who seek to develop the credit, portfolio management, and business development skills necessary to become a Business Development Officer (commercial lender) or continue on the path of a Portfolio Manager. This position provides hands‑on experience in commercial loan portfolio administration, financial analysis, credit underwriting, client relationship management, and business development. Working closely with experienced lenders, credit partners, and portfolio managers, the associate will gradually assume greater responsibility for managing commercial relationships while completing a structured commercial lending development program.

Principal Accountabilities

40% Portfolio Management and Credit Administration:

  • Assist in managing an assigned portfolio of commercial loan relationships.
  • Monitor loan performance, maturities, covenant compliance, and risk ratings.
  • Track and resolve loan exceptions, past dues, documentation deficiencies, and collateral requirements.
  • Review borrow financial statements and prepare annual relationship reviews.
  • Assist with construction loan monitoring, inspections, and draw administration.
  • Coordinate with credit administration and loan operations to ensure timely loan servicing.

30% Credit Analysis and Underwriting:

  • Identify elevated risks and work with Credit Officers, Account Officers, and Portfolio Managers to find ways to mitigate identified risks.
  • Keep the Portfolio Manager, Area Executive, and Regional Executive informed on identified elevated risks, trends, issues, etc.
  • Analyze commercial borrower financial statements, tax returns, cash flows, and collateral. - Prepare credit memorandums and loan presentations.
  • Participate in underwriting discussions with Credit Officers and Business Development Officers.
  • Develop proficiency in cash flow analysis, risk grading, and loan structuring.
  • Evaluate new credit requests and modifications to existing relationships.

20% Client Relationship Support and Business Development:

  • Participate in customer meetings, annual reviews, prospect calls, and networking events.
  • Develop an understanding of commercial products, treasury services, deposits, and lending solutions.
  • Assist lenders in preparing proposals and recommendations for clients.
  • Support cross‑selling efforts and referral opportunities throughout the Bank.
  • Begin building a portfolio of smaller commercial relationships under supervision.

10% Professional Development and Training:

  • Complete Fidelity's commercial lending training curriculum, including:
  • 5 C's of Credit BLE Modules
  • Financial Statement Analysis
  • Cash Flow Analysis
  • Credit Memo Preparation
  • Loan Structuring
  • Commercial Construction Lending
  • Portfolio Management
  • Prospecting and Relationship Development.
  • Participate in mentoring sessions with senior lenders and credit leaders.
  • Progress through established developmental milestones toward Business Development Officer responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics with 3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior credit analysis experience.
