Job summary

Florence County is seeking a Planner I to perform professional work in county planning and development. The role involves researching planning projects, processing applications, preparing agendas and minutes, and drafting notices related to planning activities.

Responsibilities include assisting with public meetings, responding to inquiries, and supporting transportation planning efforts for the Florence Area Transportation Study, while helping with budget tracking and staff reports for relevant

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in city and regional planning, economics, engineering, or public administration.
• 1–2 years of planning experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Conducts research on proposed planning projects, ordinances, and regulations.
• Processes applications and enters them into the applicable database; tracks projects through staff to boards and council.
• Prepares public meeting agenda and minutes.
• Drafts and produces public notices for planning activities.
• Writes updates to County ordinances related to planning, zoning, and land development.
• Prepares staff reports for Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.
• Assist with public meetings and public hearings as required.
• Responds to public inquiries related to Planning Commission items.
• Assists with transportation planning and data collection for the Florence Area Transportation Study.

Education
