Job summary

Petco in the United States is seeking a Junior Pet Stylist in Grooming to begin a ten-week training program and learn bathing, drying, nail trimming, and more under seasoned groomers. You’ll gain hands-on experience with guidance from pros and start a rewarding career in pet care.

In addition to training, the role offers competitive base pay and benefits with opportunities for growth, while you build skills working with pets and their families in a friendly grooming team.

Qualifications

• 0-1 year of animal-related experience; shelter volunteering or pet sitting preferred.
• High-school diploma or GED preferred.
• Genuine passion for animals and grooming as a career.
• Basic understanding of dog breeds, behavior and grooming practices.
• Capable of handling pets of all sizes with care and empathy.
• Effective verbal and written communication with pet parents and teammates.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform limited grooming services: bathing, drying, nail trimming, brushing, ear and gland cleaning.
• Ensure well-being and safety of every animal in the salon at all times.
• Interact professionally with pet parents and provide excellent customer service.
• Maintain a clean, safe grooming area and sanitize tools and equipment.
• Schedule grooming appointments, manage paperwork, and keep records.
• Learn and follow Petco grooming policies and guidelines to ensure safety and quality.
