Job summary

Pratt Industries in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Jr Packaging Designer to review artwork and create samples or layouts based on customer artwork and specifications, designing corrugated shipping containers.

You will produce prototypes, provide CAD files and print cards to Sales, Customer Service and Production, maintain tooling libraries, and coordinate with vendors to optimize tooling pricing while following Quality, Sanitation, GMP and HACCP standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Proficiency with ArtiosCAD, TOPS or CAPE, Adobe Illustrator.
• Ability to read and interpret documents; basic math.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate creative and functional designs for corrugated shipping containers including structural and graphics.
• Provide accurate CAD files and Print Cards to Sales, Customer Service and Production to meet customer needs and production efficiency.
• Maintain a library of active and non-active tooling for die cut and printing areas.
• Create prototypes and samples manually or via CAM system for customers.
• Produce small order quantities when required.
• Procure tooling used during manufacturing (e.g., cutting dies, print plates, anvil covers).
• Meet with vendors to discuss tooling pricing and efficiencies.
• Proof new print plates and cutting dies and coordinate tooling repairs with shop personnel.
• Comply with company policies, safety, and housekeeping; follow GMP and HACCP standards.
