Job summary

QinetiQ US in Virginia is seeking a new-grad optical engineer to assist with electro-optic/ infrared (EOIR) imaging sensor optical design, laboratory optical characterization, and prototype integration. You will join a multi-disciplinary team to deliver rugged sensor systems for defense programs.

Responsibilities include assisting with requirements analysis, optical design in Zemax, lab testing of EOIR sensors, and assembly integration, with travel up to 10% and eligibility for a DoD Secret

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in optical engineering or closely related discipline.
Understanding of multi-band imaging optics including NIR/SWIR/MWIR/LWIR.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Willingness to travel up to 10% to QinetiQ sites and customer locations.

Responsibilities

Assist design and development of multi-band EOIR imaging sensor and optics.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams through the product life cycle.
Perform requirements analysis and define optical specifications.
Build and align EOIR prototype subsystems and test stations.
Document specifications and transitions benches to manufacturing.
