Job summary

QinetiQ US in Virginia is seeking a new-grad optical engineer to assist with electro-optic/infrared imaging sensor optical design, laboratory characterization, and prototype integration.

You will contribute to products ensuring Warfighters have overmatch, supporting multi-band EOIR optics, sensors, and lasers, and collaborating across engineering disciplines to move systems toward production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in optical engineering or closely related discipline.
• Understanding of multi-band visible and infrared imaging optics (NIR/SWIR/MWIR/LWIR).
• Knowledge of EOIR imaging sensors, lenses and laser optics.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% to support project needs.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and development of multi-band EOIR imaging sensor optics for defense systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams through the product life cycle from concept to production.
• Support laboratory characterization and prototype integration activities.
• Document specs and assist with transition to manufacturing.
