The Opportunity:

As an Entry Level Electrical Engineer, you’ll work with a dynamic and growing team of Electrical/Marine/Mechanical/Structural Engineers and Naval Architects at our onsite location. You’ll provide technical support on various engineering ship design projects, supporting Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Military Sealift Command (MSC). Your responsibilities may include electrical design, power load analysis, fault current analyses, short circuit analyses, panel and cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, electrical drawings, work item development, SRD updates, cost estimates, ship checks, and other technical documentation in accordance with naval and commercial standards.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide onsite engineering support for MSC on transportation alteration projects.
  2. Perform site visits at Navy and Commercial Shipyards for as-built ship checks of electrical systems.
  3. Conduct electrical analyses and calculations for modifications to electrical power, electromechanical, and control systems.
  4. Develop 2D electrical design drawings and collaborate with QA/review engineering staff to generate final technical products.
  5. Review contractual specifications and research regulatory and commercial standards.
  6. Work effectively with team members and communicate clearly.
  7. Pay attention to detail, be a self-starter, and capable of multi-tasking.
  8. Entry-level experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software is preferred.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent Navy training/experience.
  • US Citizen able to obtain Secret Security Clearance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to create graphical and presentation materials.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
  • Ability to perform ship checks onboard MSC and Navy ships.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for designing electrical drawings and BOM creation.

Desired:

  • Experience with MSC transalts, ship checks, package development, QA, redlines.
  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD, NAVISWORKS, SKM Power Tools.
  • Knowledge of Machinery Control Systems, PLC/HMI/Automation.
  • Shipboard or shipyard experience.
  • Participation in professional organizations (e.g., IEEE, SNAME).

Pay Range:

The salary range for this position is $53,100 - $106,300, influenced by location, experience, skills, and education. We offer comprehensive benefits including healthcare, wellness, retirement, education, and time off. Learn more here.
