Job summary

Fehr & Peers is seeking entry-level engineers and planners in transportation to build a strong career foundation through diverse project experiences in the San Jose area. You will gain exposure to planning and engineering tasks, and develop project management and technical skills across transportation studies, multimodal planning, and design.

The role emphasizes on-the-job training and mentoring, with opportunities to participate in internal R&D and public outreach.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related major

Responsibilities

• Conduct transportation analysis and write reports
• Participate in meetings, including preparing presentations and public outreach materials
• Handle project management responsibilities
• Participate in professional organizations
• Conduct site visits and collect field data
• Explore internal Research and Development program
• Participate in on-the-job training and mentoring
• Work on a few different projects
• Seek additional work from project managers
• Work on a variety of projects with most staff in the office
• Use several technical software programs
• Prepare deliverables, including memos, reports, and presentations
• Attend multiple client meetings
• Increase responsibility for managing small projects
• An entrepreneurial spirit and proactive approach to communication and getting work done
• Genuine curiosity for the work and familiarity with the challenges of dayto-day travel within your community
