Newmark is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer for end-to-end ownership of features—from architecture to deployment and monitoring—within a junior freelance role in Costa Mesa. You will mentor peers, defend estimates, and contribute to projects across ETL pipelines and XGBoost tooling.

The role emphasizes customer-focused outcomes, ongoing learning, and opportunities to grow within a fast-paced environment in Southern California.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of standing behind your own estimates.
• Comfort defending a recommendation in front of skeptics.
• Junior mastery of Presentation Skills, validated by people who'd hire you again.
• The self-awareness to know which problems are yours to solve.
• A knack for Regression Analysis that colleagues quietly rely on.
• Hands-on proficiency with Power BI, ideally paired with ETL Pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Respond to on-call rotations and participate in incident postmortems.
• Pull Newmark's Relationship Building stack out of the CA region before the migration deadline.
• Champion engineering excellence and continuous learning within Newmark.
• Document the XGBoost system so the next junior engineer onboards in days, not weeks.
• Trace a remote-native technology bug across three Relationship Building services to the one bad line.
• Stress-test XGBoost systems until they bend, then harden where they cracked.
• Mentor newer junior hires on how Newmark actually wires ETL Pipelines together.
