Job summary

You will gather data, apply statistical techniques, and implement root-cause corrective actions to boost product quality and yields. The ideal candidate holds a BS in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering and has 1–3 years in process engineering, with familiarity in melting and solidification.

Responsibilities

• Focus on safety and identify, recommend, and implement improvements in plant performance to optimize product volume, yields, and quality.
• Gather and evaluate data, apply statistical techniques to improve process capability, and use root cause/corrective action methods to resolve process challenges.
• Provide technical support for melting, casting, and post-casting processes.
• Develop plant SOPs for process and equipment operation and provide training as required to manufacturing personnel.

Our client, a manufacturing-focused organization, is seeking a Junior Metallurgical Engineer to join their team. As a Junior Metallurgical Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering organization supporting plant operations and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working safely, the ability to analyze process performance using data and statistical methods, and the drive to support improvements in melting, casting, and post-casting processes.

What's the Job?

Focus on working safely and supporting a safe work environment. Identify, recommend, and implement improvements in plant performance to optimize product volume, yields, and quality in line with business needs. Gather and evaluate data, apply statistical techniques to improve process capability, and use root cause/corrective action methods to resolve process challenges. Provide technical support for melting, casting, and post-casting processes. Develop plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for process and equipment operation and provide training as required to manufacturing personnel.

What's Needed?

• BS in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or another engineering discipline from an accredited college.
• 1 to 3 years of work experience in Process Engineering.
• Exposure to and basic understanding of melting, casting, and solidification is helpful.
• Ability to work in a team environment that supports melting and casting operations.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); ability to apply SPC, DOE, Lean/Six Sigma, mathematics, and statistics to solve complex manufacturing process problems.
