Job summary

Branch Builds, Inc. is seeking a Plumbing Technician 1 to support our MEP project teams in Roanoke. This entry-level role offers supervised, hands-on experience in new construction and renovations, with opportunities to learn plumbing systems, aid installations, and grow a career in the trade.

You will assist with rough-ins, fixture setup, maintenance, and reading basic blueprints, while working safely on a full-time schedule requiring travel to job sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in plumbing or a related field.
• Familiarity with basic hand and power tools (e.g., pipe wrenches, drills, soldering torches).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Adherence to OSHA safety protocols.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist with rough-ins by measuring, cutting, and threading pipes (PVC, PEX, Copper) and installing hangers and supports.
• Help assemble and install sinks, toilets, water heaters, and other commercial or residential plumbing fixtures.
• Support diagnosing leaks, clearing blockages, and routine preventive maintenance.
• Read basic blueprints and diagrams to determine the layout of water supply and waste systems.
• Maintain a clean job site, organize tools on the service truck, and adhere to OSHA safety protocols.
• Work alongside electrical and HVAC teams to ensure plumbing systems do not conflict with other building infrastructure.
• May give instruction, direction, and mentorship to others on the job site including an assigned helper
• Gather/collate/classify information
