Job summary

Leidos in Springfield, MO seeks a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support HVAC design, analysis, and documentation for mission-critical facilities. You will work under senior engineers to develop layouts, select equipment, and perform energy modeling, construction documents, and BMS integration.

This role offers mentorship, collaboration across disciplines, and exposure to government and commercial projects. Bachelor's in ME required; TS/SCI preferred; field experience valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Active Top Secret SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Experience with CAD for mechanical design and drafting (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of design standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, IMC, LEED).
• Experience with prototype fabrication, testing, and field surveys.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and layout of HVAC systems for 24/7 environments.
• Prepare and revise construction drawings and specs in CAD tools.
• Support load calculations and energy modeling with Trace 700/HAP/eQUEST.
• Participate in field surveys and facility condition assessments.
• Assist commissioning, testing, and balancing of systems.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and support construction administration.
• Ensure designs meet codes and documentation standards; maintain records.
