Job summary

Clayco, in conjunction with LJC Design & Engineering, seeks an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to support the design of mission-critical facilities such as data centers and high-availability environments. You will assist with calculations, layouts, equipment selections, drawings, and coordination across disciplines from concept through construction.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET institution.
• 0–3 years of experience; internship or co‑op in mission-critical, data center, or industrial projects a plus.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within first year of employment.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit; exposure to load calculations software such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP or similar; exposure to CFD modeling software such as Ansys Fluent, Cadence Reality or similar is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in producing mechanical design deliverables (drawings and specs).
• Perform basic calculations (load calcs, system sizing, duct/pipe drops).
• Coordinate with civil, structural, architectural, electrical, plumbing, and controls to support integrated design.
• Participate in construction administration tasks (RFI responses, submittals, field observations).
• Learn ICC, ASHRAE, NFPA codes and standards.
• Develop technical skills through mentorship and project exposure.
