Job summary

TechStar Group in Gloucester, MA is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support design, change control, and build activities for complex semiconductor capital equipment. You’ll own manufacturing documentation, collaborate across teams, and drive ECO/ECN/VPR/QN workflows.

The ideal candidate has hands-on CAD experience, familiarity with PLM systems, and strong problem-solving and communication skills to resolve issues on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience with CAD modeling and drawing creation using Pro/Creo.
• Familiarity with PLM systems (Windchill, Agile PLM) and change control processes.
• Ability to initiate and process ECO/ECN/VPR/QN workflows.
• Strong documentation, GD&T reading, and revision control skills.
• Proven problem-solving capability (8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys).
• Effective communication with shopfloor and engineering stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and update manufacturing drawings using Pro/ENGINEER (Creo).
• Create and maintain BOMs and drawing packages with GD&T awareness.
• Review, interpret, and redline engineering drawings.
• Initiate ECO/ECN/VPR/QN within Agile PLM and Windchill.
• Provide onsite build support and troubleshoot shopfloor issues.
• Collaborate with assembly to resolve DFM/DFS concerns.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Drive closure of QNs with measurable effectiveness.

New Position: Junior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Gloucester, MA

Duration: 6+ Months (long term)

Job Summary:

We’re seeking an Mechanical Engineer to support design, engineering change control, and build activities for complex semiconductor capital equipment. The role demands hands-on ownership of Manufacturing and shopfloor support, documentation, and cross-functional coordination through formal change processes (ECO/ECN/VPR/QN).

Key Responsibilities

• o Design and develop and update Manufacturing drawings using Pro/ENGINEER (Pro E/Creo).
• o Create and maintain BOMs, part lists, and drawing packages; ensure drawing readability and GD&T awareness for mechanical interfaces.
• o Review, interpret, and redline engineering drawings.
• o Initiate and process ECO (Engineering Change Orders), ECN (Engineering Change Notices), VPR (Vendor Part Requests/Reviews), and QN (Quality Notifications) within Agile PLM and Windchill.
• o Provide onsite build support for semiconductor equipment—troubleshoot Manufacturing and Shop floor issues
• o Collaborate with assembly teams to resolve design-for-manufacture (DFM) and design-for-service (DFS) concerns.

Quality & Problem Solving

• o Lead root cause analysis using structured problem-solving (8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys) and implement robust corrective/preventive actions.
• o Address QNs, drive closure with measurable effectiveness.

Required Skills & Tools

• CAD: Pro E/Creo for Modelling and detailing and harness drawings; familiarity with Windchill PLM.
• PLM & PDM: Agile PLM and Windchill for change control, releases, and configuration management.
• Change Processes: Hands-on with ECO, ECN, VPR, QN workflows.
• Documentation: Strong drawing reading, redlining, revision control, and release practices.
• Problem Solving: Proven track record of resolving build issues quickly and permanently;
• Communication: Clear, concise communication with shopfloor teams and engineering stakeholders.
