Job summary

Actalent in Georgia is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team. You will develop 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation, applying core mechanical principles on real products and systems.

You will gain hands-on experience with SolidWorks and CATIA, participate in design reviews, support manufacturability assessments, and help move concepts from concept through production, under mentor guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Recent graduate or up to 2 years of mechanical design experience.
• Hands-on internship or project work in mechanical design or robotics.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools: SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, NX.
• Solid understanding of GD&T, drawings and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of new product development processes and design workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain accurate 3D models and assemblies using CAD tools.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings and documentation through release.
• Support design updates and engineering changes following procedures.
• Participate in design reviews and propose manufacturable solutions.
• Perform basic tolerance analysis and material/process selection guidance.
• Assess manufacturability, assembly, and cost of designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and testing teams.
• Assist with testing, validation, and troubleshooting of designs.
• Document design intent and project status in clear reports and presentations.
• Ensure designs meet performance, safety, quality, and cost requirements.
