Job summary

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering in Lenexa, KS is seeking an Early Career Mechanical CAD Designer to grow within our drafting and design group. You will help establish and apply company standards, draft P&ID using SmartPlant, and develop mechanical sketches and 3D model checks to ensure constructability.

Ideal candidates have a degree in CAD/Drafting, familiarity with SmartPlant or AutoCAD to support project deliverables, and a growth mindset to advance technically and professionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associates degree in CAD & Drafting Tech or related field.
• Knowledge of design software such as SmartPlant, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inventor, or SolidWorks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Draft P&ID using SmartPlant P&ID and follow design direction.
• Create mechanical sketches, layouts, and detail drawings.
• Develop and check design deliverables per codes, standards, and requirements.
• Navigate 3D models to check interferences and constructability.
• Support project/department with miscellaneous tasks.
• Coordinate with internal and external design partners and review progress.
• Take on more complex tasks as directed by Lead Designer.
