Job summary

Evolving Solution Services in Troy, MI, seeks a Junior Mechanical Build Technician to assist with HMS transfer unit assembly and learn our build processes. You will work with experienced technicians to verify parts, prepare components for painting, and support testing and shipment preparation.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, some mechanical assembly experience, and a willingness to learn CAD and engineering documentation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required; technical certificate or associate degree preferred.
  • 0–2 years of mechanical assembly or technician experience.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints and assembly instructions.
  • Familiar with hand tools, power tools, torque tools and measurement devices.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, or electromechanical systems is a plus.
  • Preferred: CAD drawings and engineering documentation experience.
  • Must follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with positioning tables and setting up work areas for HMS transfer unit assembly.
  • Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and verify availability of components before assembly.
  • Notify supervisor of missing or incorrect parts and retrieve machined parts from inventory.
  • Prepare parts for painting and coordinate with paint department on masking and specs.
  • Transport painted parts to assembly area and assist with mechanical assembly.
  • Assemble components using drawings, blueprints and instructions.
  • Install grease lines, air lines and other mechanical components under guidance.
  • Perform basic quality inspections and dimensional checks to ensure specifications.
  • Support equipment testing and assist software technicians during run-off.
  • Organize shop, prep equipment for shipment and secure components for pallets.
  • Assist with assembling installation kits and required components.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment.
  • Review assembly orders for material shortages and allocations.
  • Adhere to company quality and customer objectives and continuous improvement goals.

The Junior Mechanical Build Technician is responsible for assisting with the assembly of HMS transfer units while learning our mechanical build processes. This role works closely with experienced technicians to assemble equipment, verify parts, maintain an organized work area, and ensure products meet quality standards. Responsibilities
  • Assist with positioning tables and setting up work areas for the assembly of HMS transfer units.
  • Learn to review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and verify that all required mechanical and commercial components are available before assembly begins.
  • Notify the supervisor or lead technician of any missing or incorrect parts and reach out to supervisor to retrieve machined parts from inventory and verify they are ready for assembly.
  • Assist with preparing parts for painting and communicate with the paint department regarding masking requirements and paint specifications.
  • Transport painted parts to the assembly area and assist with mechanical assembly.
  • Assemble mechanical components using assembly drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Install grease lines, air lines, and other mechanical components under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Perform basic quality inspections and dimensional checks to ensure assemblies meet specifications.
  • Assist during equipment testing and support software technicians as needed during machine run-off.
  • Help organize the shop, prepare equipment for shipment, and secure components to shipping pallets.
  • Assist with assembling installation kits, including fasteners, air lines, and other required components.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Assist in reviewing assembly orders to identify material shortages and open allocations.
  • Know and support company quality and customer objectives.
  • Perform daily work in compliance with HMS Products continuous improvement objectives.
  • Understand and support corporate and departmental objectives.
  • Work with supervisor to establish training and development goals.
  • Know and abide by all company policies.
