Carmeuse North America is seeking an entry-level maintenance-oriented apprentice in Lansing, MI to learn and support repairs on heavy and light equipment. You will assist skilled technicians, participate in preventive maintenance, and develop skills in hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

You will also gain hands-on experience with tools, safety procedures, and record-keeping while integrating into a team that values attendance and professional development.

Competenze

• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn maintenance and repair techniques.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn safe work practices and procedures.
• Basic understanding of tools, equipment, and mechanical systems, or the ability to acquire such knowledge through training.
• Ability to learn the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment systems, including electrical, brake, hydraulic, and mechanical components.

• Learns and follows all safety regulations, practices, policies, and procedures related to the position.
• Assists experienced technicians with mechanical repairs and adjustments on power drives, brakes, steering systems, electrical systems, cooling systems, and related components on a variety of light and heavy equipment.
• Participates in preventive maintenance activities and assists with the inspection, disassembly, and reassembly of equipment.
• Learns proper maintenance and care of tools, equipment, and work areas.
• Assists with hydraulic system repairs and other specialized equipment repairs under supervision.
• Assists with testing completed repairs and maintenance work to identify defects and verify conformance with specifications.
• Assists with plant processing equipment repairs as required.
• Completes assigned training and development activities to gain proficiency in maintenance and repair procedures.
• Maintains accurate records related to maintenance activities and training progress as required.
• Operates equipment under supervision for training, testing, positioning, or maintenance purposes, as authorized.
• Assists with moving equipment between sites for maintenance or repair.
• Participates in apprenticeship-related classroom, online, or hands‑on training programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
