Job summary

Rolls-Royce in Indianapolis is seeking a Junior Machine Learning Engineer to join our growing team. You will tackle AI/ML challenges, contribute to software development and data science, and build tools to deliver insights on Rolls-Royce products.

You'll work in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborate with engineering and IT, and gain exposure to real-world projects from day one. Willingness to travel between sites is needed.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completing a degree in a related field with graduation between Dec 2026 and May 2027.
• Interest in AI/ML and data science with a willingness to travel between sites.
• Curious, agile, and eager to develop in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Work with IT and Rolls-Royce engineering teams on digital technology opportunities.
• Clean, analyze large datasets from sensors, tests, and operations.
• Build, train, and validate ML models for knowledge search, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance.
• Document work and present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Role Overview:

We’re looking for a Junior Machine Learning Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will tackle exciting challenges in AI/ML, software development, and Data Science. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, working together to tackle technical challenges in a stimulating and collaborative environment. In this role, your focus will be on building and deploying tools to deliver insights on Rolls-Royce products.

What you’ll be doing:

• Work with IT, and Rolls-Royce engineering teams address key opportunities for application of digital technologies providing optimal impact and value.

• Understand, clean, and analyze large datasets from engine sensors, test rigs, and fleet operations.

• Build, train, and validate machine learning models for tasks such as searching engineering knowledge, anomaly research, production support, and predictive maintenance.

• Document your work clearly and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Who we’re looking for:

• Working towards a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, and or related degree and graduation date December 2026 or May 2027

• A willingness to work flexibly and travel between locations: in most cases, you’ll be able to meet the requirements in the location you are recruited to, however, we may need you to be flexible and travel between sites.
