Job summary

American K9 Detective Services is seeking a Junior Handler to screen cargo in compliance with TSA rules. The role includes completing a 4–8 week training and obtaining required certifications prior to deployment at the assigned location, with duties spanning on-site and field environments.

The position requires willingness to travel and operate a company vehicle, plus meeting security-clearance prerequisites and physical demands, including lifting up to 100 lbs and varied weather work.

Qualifications

• Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain Known Traveler Number (KTN) within 4–6 weeks of employment.
• Ability to obtain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within 4–6 weeks of employment.
• Ability to obtain Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Airport Badge within 4–6 weeks of employment.
• Must have valid US driver's license and satisfactory driving record; REAL ID compliant or a valid passport plus license.

Responsibilities

• Participate in CCSP related training to search cargo and identify potential threats.
• Conduct authorized representative duties related to X-Ray, physical search, and explosive trace detection as needed.
• Perform Junior Handler duties while commanding a trained working dog.
• Maintain training records.
• Ensure canine living arrangements comply with company policy and inspections.
• Maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances.
• Be willing to operate company vehicle during on-site training.
• Work in varied conditions including outdoors, extreme weather, and travel as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
