Position Summary

The Junior Handler will be responsible for screening cargo in compliance with TSA rules and regulations. The Junior Handler will be required to complete a 4-8-week minimum team training course and certification prior to mobilization to the assigned location.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in CCSP related training to search cargo and identify potential threats
  • Conduct authorized representative duties related to X-Ray, physical search, and explosive trace detection as needed
  • Perform Junior Handler duties while commanding a trained working dog
  • Maintain training records and care for the assigned certified canine, including ensuring the living conditions meet requirements and are subject to inspections
  • Maintain all job-related certifications and security clearances
  • Operate company vehicle during on-site training
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required, with at least three years of citizenship prior to application
  • Ability to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN), SIDA badge, and Security Threat Assessment (STA) within 4-6 weeks of employment
  • Reliable transportation to transport the canine and crate to/from work location, with climate-controlled vehicle
  • Pass applicable Contract Testing and Certifications within 4-8 weeks of employment and maintain certifications
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license, compliant with REAL ID or valid U.S. passport
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments
  • Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform various physical activities

Working Conditions

Work varies from busy training to fieldwork, often outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity. Exposure to fumes, chemicals, and vibration may occur. Work hours are schedule-dependent, including nights, weekends, holidays, and travel.
