Job summary

AMERICAN K9 DETECTION SERV LLC is seeking a JuniorHandler responsible for screening cargo in line with TSA rules. The role requires completing a 4–8 weeks training and certification before mobilization to the assigned location.

You will train and operate with a certified canine, maintain records, and comply with security clearances. Expect varied work settings from busy training to field operations, including night/weekend hours and travel.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must have held citizenship for a minimum of three years prior to date of application.
• Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment.
• Must be able to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within four to six weeks of employment.
• Must be able to obtain a Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Airport Badge within four to six weeks of employment.
• Must have adequate transportation to transport the Canine and Crate (inside the vehicle) to/from the assigned work location; vehicle must have climate control.
• Must pass the applicable Contract Testing and Certifications within four to eight weeks of employment; certification requirements must be maintained.
• Must have a valid US driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; REAL ID compliant or a valid US passport in addition to a valid license.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities.
• Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process.
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs; stand for long periods in all weather; various physical actions.

Responsibilities

• Participate in CCSP related training to search cargo and identify potential threats
• Conduct authorized representative duties related to X-Ray, physical search, and explosive trace detection as needed
• Perform JuniorHandler duties while commanding a trained working dog
• Responsible for maintaining training records
• Responsible for training records, care, and maintenance of assigned certified canine; canine may live inside employee’s residence with inspections
• Must maintain all job-related certifications and security clearances
• Must be willing to operate company vehicle during on-site training
• Work conditions vary from busy training to fieldwork; nights, weekends, holidays, and travel may be required
• Other duties as assigned

• Work conditions can vary from a busy training environment to fieldwork, both subject to frequent interruptions. Frequent work outsideand ininclement weather conditions isrequired, including heat, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Work hours will be dictated by the customers agreed upon schedule. Nights, weekends, and holiday hours will berequired, and the work schedule will vary. Travel may also berequired.
