Job summary

Constellis is seeking a Regional Trainer to oversee Handlers and canine teams ensuring cargo screenings comply with TSA rules. The role requires extensive explosive-detection canine experience and supervisory skills, with up to 70% nationwide travel.

You will supervise training, conduct audits, maintain records, and coordinate recertifications while adhering to SOPs and safety standards. U.S. citizenship and security clearances are prerequisites.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience training canines and teams in explosive detection.
  • Three years of documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment.
  • Must have adequate transportation to transport assigned Canine and Crate (inside the vehicle) to/from assigned work location; transportation must have operational climate control.
  • Must be able to pass the applicable Contract Testing and Certifications for the program within four to six weeks of employment; candidate must maintain the certification requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in solving unique training problems with detection dogs and team and knowledgeable of how to evaluate and apply canine training principles, conditioning and standards.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and a clear driving record for the last three years; must also be maintained during tenure of employment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry various items weighing up to 100 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform temporary Handler duties while commanding a trained explosive working dog as required for the program.
  • Maintain training records, care, and maintenance of assigned certified canine with home lodging considerations as required.
  • Develop and follow established training protocols in accordance with statements of work and standard operating procedures.
  • Arrange operational exercises to replicate real-life scenarios and enable canines to work independently in high population density environments.
  • Transport, secure, and account for canine training aids, equipment, company vehicles, canine trailers, assets, and resources.
  • Assist in instruction of new Handlers and Trainers when needed.
  • Must maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances.
  • Must be willing to operate company vehicle.
  • Travel up to 70% to contract locations Nationwide.
  • Work conditions vary with weather, nights, weekends, and holiday hours.

Regional Trainer will be responsible for overseeing the Handlers to ensure cargo screenings are done in compliance with TSA rules and regulations.

PAY TRANSPARANCY/ COMPENSATION

Salary Range $78,000 - $82,000

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide supervision and training to assigned Handlers and canines related to operational searches and training
  • Perform canine training, audits and administrative deliverables as required for assigned Canine Teams
  • Schedule and conduct reoccurring train teams for recertification’s and remedial, sustainment, and advancement training
  • Provide temporary certified Handler duties as required for the program

  • Responsible for maintaining training records, care, and maintenance of assigned certified canine. The assigned canine must be permitted to live inside the employee’s residence. The employee’s residence must be adequate, indoor, and climate-controlled for the canine. The canine living area at the employee’s residence is subject to reoccurring inspections.
  • Develop and follow established training protocols in accordance with statements of work and standard operating procedures
  • Arrange operational exercises in order to replicate real life operational scenarios and enable canines to work independently in high population density environments with people moving to and from mass transit environments
  • Transport, secure, and account for canine training aids, equipment, company vehicles, canine trailers, company assets, and resources
  • Assist when needed in instruction of new Handlers and Trainers
  • Must maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances
  • Must be willing to operate company vehicle
  • Travel of up to 70% to contract locations Nationwide
  • Work conditions can vary from a busy training environment to field work, both subject to frequent interruptions. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold, and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Work hours will be dictated by the customers agreed upon schedule. Nights, weekends, and holiday hours will be required, and the work schedule will vary. Travel may also be required.
