What Your Day Looks Like

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Junior IT Cybersecurity Analyst is an entry-level position ideal for a motivated individual currently pursuing a degree in cybersecurity or a related field. This role supports the organization's cybersecurity operations by assisting with the monitoring, analysis, and response to security threats. Under the guidance of senior IT staff, the analyst will gain hands-on experience with security tools, incident response procedures, and risk mitigation strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a strong foundation in cybersecurity while contributing to the protection of the organization’s digital assets.

Essential Job Functions

Security Monitoring:

  • Utilize security tools and technologies to monitor and analyze network traffic for potential security incidents, as well as monitor and manage security events.
  • Respond to security alerts and incidents promptly, escalating, as necessary.
  • Configure and fine-tune security tools to enhance detection capabilities.

Security Awareness And Training

  • Develop and update security awareness training materials for employees.
  • Ensure that all users complete required cybersecurity training and understand common hacking techniques.
  • Monitor and follow up on security training compliance, providing additional support as needed.

Policy And Compliance

  • Assist in the development, review, and enforcement of IT security policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.

Security Audits

  • Participate in regular security audits to assess the effectiveness of security controls.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to address the findings and implement improvements.

Vulnerability Scanning & Management

  • Utilize vulnerability scanners to identify weaknesses in systems and applications.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to remediate and mitigate identified vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in identifying, assessing, and prioritizing vulnerabilities in systems and applications.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to implement patches and fixes to address vulnerabilities.

Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with vendors to assess and ensure the security posture of third-party products and services. Conduct regular security reviews of vendors, ensuring compliance with security standards and contractual obligations.
  • Work with vendors to address and remediate security issues in a timely manner.

Organizational Standards And Ethics

  • Ensure adherence to Wenger policies, methods, and disciplines.
  • Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of customer and employee information.
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Mission, and Value statements.
  • Other duties and responsibilities, assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a college program with a focus on cybersecurity, information security, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity through coursework, personal projects, or certification
  • Strong understanding of basic cybersecurity principles and concepts.
  • Familiarity with common security tools and technologies.
  • Basic understanding of networking, operating systems, and security principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
