Applied Research Associates, Inc. in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Junior Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to help implement, test, and maintain technical security controls across classified Windows, Linux, and network environments.

You will gain hands-on experience with RMF evidence, vulnerability remediation, and security monitoring under guidance from senior personnel. The role emphasizes growth in cybersecurity engineering, vulnerability management, system hardening, and automation

Formación

• Requires US Citizenship with active DoD Top Secret clearance; SCI eligibility preferred.
• 2+ years in IT, cybersecurity, or related fields.
• Foundational knowledge of Windows or Linux administration and networking concepts.
• Ability to follow technical procedures and document results clearly.
• Experience with RMF evidence preparation and configuration hardening is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with implementing and maintaining technical security controls for classified systems.
• Support vulnerability scanning, validate findings and coordinate remediation.
• Apply STIGs/SCAP baselines for Windows, Linux, networking, and VMs.
• Support Microsoft Defender, AD, Group Policy, BitLocker, and endpoint logging.
• Troubleshoot security-control failures across endpoints, servers, and network devices.
• Collect and quality-check RMF evidence for various assessments.
• Assist with change control planning and rollback activities.
• Automate recurring checks and reporting using PowerShell or similar tools.
• Support incident response, logging, containment, and post-incident validation.
• Coordinate with ISSOs, ISSM, Security Engineers, and Program Personnel.
