Job summary

The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) seeks a Junior Investment Analyst to support Investment operations across risk analysis, trading, portfolio management, and credit analysis. The role offers exposure to best-in-class investment practices within a growing, public-sector environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with analytics, reporting, cross-department collaboration, and developing forecasting models using standard investment systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Experience with financial analysis, customer service, and project delivery.
  • Superior organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer proficiency (MS Office) and ability to learn new software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Job description

The New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF), with over $20 billion of assets under management, is seeking a Junior Investment Analyst to assist with all aspects of the agency’s Investment operations including the four (4) core investment areas: Risk Analysis; Trading; Portfolio Management; and Credit Analysis. These positions will give exposure to best-in-class investment practices within a growing and entrepreneurial culture.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Assisting with quantitative, qualitative, and administrative aspects of managing NYSIF’s
  • Collaborating with Investment Department colleagues on daily activities and special projects.
  • Assisting with the development of regular and ad-hoc reporting for senior management and staff.
  • Interfacing with other internal NYSIF Departments, including administration, finance, compliance, and cash management.
  • Perform and develop analytics and forecasting models using industry standard investment market related systems.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as necessary and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University, with a preferred focus on economics, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Experience with financial analysis, customer service, and project delivery.
  • Superior organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong ability for effective time management and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer proficiency (MS Office) and adeptness in learning new software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desire to work in a highly collaborative environment with various stakeholders.
  • Dedication to public protection and a broad, well-developed array of administrative skills, with background in governmental administration and policies.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Python.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).

Salary within the posted range will be commensurate with experience. Please note, NYSIF does not offer bonus programs as part of our compensation program.
