Job summary

Hatch is seeking a dynamic Junior Hydropower Engineer to join the Energy group in our Charlotte, NC office. You will support global offices while gaining hands-on experience in dam and hydropower project development.

The role targets recent graduates or students near graduation with a degree in civil, mechanical, or hydrology & hydraulics engineering. Expect in-office work with occasional travel and mentorship from senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil, mechanical, or hydrology & hydraulics engineering required or preferred.
• GPA requirement: minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

• Develop knowledge for the development and rehabilitation of dams and hydropower projects.

Qualifications:

• Roles at this level are filled by recent or soon to be university/college graduates with little or no professional experience but possessing relevant skills
• Preferred bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, mechanical, or hydrology & hydraulics engineering
• Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Assist the Lead Engineer in developing project scopes, engineering estimates, capital cost estimates and developing repair methodologies
• Apply engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical and timely solutions to design problems in a multidiscipline project environment
• Directly apply and develop knowledgefor the development and rehabilitation of dams and hydropower projects
• Gain valuable on-site practical experience

You bring to the role:

• Willingness to travel and work onsite (including remote locations)
• Previous co-op or internship experience is an asset

• Perform assignments related to your sector
• Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
• Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
• Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
• Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
