Qualifications

• Must have four-year degree or approved assistant coaching experience for two school years
• Coaching certification or NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching prior to approval
• Complete Sports First Aid/CPR/AED training and renew every two years
• Background check including Sex-Offender Registry clearance
• Board of Education/governance approval prior to approval
• Complete concussion-in-sports training and stay updated yearly
• MSHSAA sport-specific online rules review each season
• Complete training in student mental health and suicide prevention every two years
• Complete heat illness prevention/recognition training every two years

Responsibilities

• Possess strong working knowledge of wrestling rules and regulations
• Teach athletes the skills needed for high-level performance
• Maintain team discipline and sportsmanship and motivate athletes
• Ensure safety and well-being of all athletes
• Promote year-round strength and conditioning in collaboration with junior high coordinator
• Collaborate with high school head coach to develop youth programming
• Plan community service involvement for student athletes
