Job summary

Legacy Traditional Schools is seeking an English Language Arts Teacher to inspire students and develop skilled readers and writers. The role involves delivering engaging instruction, meeting diverse learner needs, and contributing to a positive school environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree with SEI endorsement (or ability to obtain) and must pass a criminal history background check. Local travel between campuses may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement instructional activities to engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Identify and modify resources to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Use direct instruction to foster social, physical, and intellectual growth.
  • Assess curricular needs and propose improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate with students, parents, and staff.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance instruction and uphold professional standards.
  • Support student growth appropriate for age and program.
  • Attend training and staff meetings and meet deadlines.

As an English Language Arts Teacher, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education as you help develop skilled readers and writers, critical listeners, and accomplished speakers.

Responsibilities
  • Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success!
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
  • Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
  • Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
  • Participate in training and staff meetings.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and coordinating meetings as needed.
  • Evaluate each student’s learning capabilities and celebrate student accomplishments.
  • Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.
  • Be active in the role when light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required.
  • Participate in events outside of normal hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain.
  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A current teaching certificate from within the state position is located.
Physical and Travel Requirements / Work Environment
  • Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
  • Local and in-state travel required.
