Job summary

Littlefield ISD seeks a caring and self-motivated Special Education Self-Contained Paraprofessional for the Littlefield Junior High location. The role involves meeting the academic, physical, and behavioral needs of students with disabilities in a self-contained setting.

Responsibilities include implementing IEP accommodations, supporting behavior interventions, and assisting with transitions and ADL tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support and positive behavioral interventions to students with disabilities in a self-contained setting.
• Routinely implement individualized instructional programs (IEP accommodations, Behavior Intervention Plan) as developed by the ARD committee.
• Facilitate skill development in social appropriateness, anger management, and conflict resolution for students with disabilities.
• Routinely observe and record behavior data for professional staff.
• Provide feedback on student progress to teachers and administrators.
• Carry out instructional programs and lesson plans designed by the supervising teacher.
• Be discreet and respectful of confidential information as required by governance.
• Assist students with transitions between learning environments.
• Assist students in hygienic/ADL needs (hand washing, eating, toileting, diapering).
• Manage improper behavior and intervene in crisis situations as trained.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• 1. Provide instructional support and positive behavioral interventions to various students with disabilities in a self-contained setting.
• 2. Routinely implement individualized instructional programs (IEP accommodations, Behavior Intervention Plan) as developed by the ARD committee.
• 3. Facilitate skill development in social appropriateness, anger management, and conflict resolution for students with disabilities.
• 4. Routinely observe and record behavior data for professional staff.
• 5. Provide feedback on a regular basis to teachers and administrators regarding student progress.
• 6. Carry out instructional programs and lesson designed by the supervising teacher.
• 7. Be discreet and respectful of condfidential information as required by Federal, State and Local governance.
• 8. Assist various students with disabilities in transitioning between learning environments.
• 9. Assist students in various hygienic/ADL needs of students (including hand washing, eating, toileting, diapering)
• 10. Manage improper behavior of students to include intervening in crisis situations as needed
• 11. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Mental and Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

• Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress and mental acuity to collect data.
• Physical Demands: Physical stamina to perform the duties and resonsibilities of the position which may require lifting and carrying (less than 15 lbs.), occasional heavy lifting (45 lbs and over), safely controlling behavior through physical restraint to prevent students from harming self of others after trained to do so.
