JOB SUMMARY
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
JOB TITLE: Teacher
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  2. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  3. Maintain accurate records of all students.
  4. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.
  5. Utilize effective classroom management techniques.
  6. Work collaboratively with building administration, teachers, parents/guardians, and students.
  7. Establish an effective rapport with students assigned.
  8. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs.
  9. Utilize technology to support instruction.
  10. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  11. Manage student behavior.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  1. Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal, including presentations.
  2. Ability to use basic, job-related equipment.
  3. Be self-motivated.
  4. Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances and a diverse group of individuals.
  5. Knowledge of NCLB (No Child Left Behind), FERPA, and other federal, state, and local guidelines.
  6. Passionate about improving urban public education and devoted to making a difference.
EDUCATION:
  1. Bachelor’s degree or above in Education.
  2. Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  1. 9.5 month employee.
  2. Medical/Dental/Life Benefits in accordance with JSD policy.
