Job summary

Fort Madison Community School District seeks a Junior High Boys Football Coach to lead, instruct, supervise, and organize the junior high football program. You will teach fundamentals, strategies, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a safe, supportive environment.

Schedule and conduct practices and competitions; ensure compliance with district policies; collaborate with staff, parents, and other coaches to support the athletic program.

Qualifications

• Instruct participants in the fundamental skill, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success
• Give student instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self- discipline, self-confidence, and self-esteem
• Communicate with athletes, parents, athletic administration and other school staff
• Promote all activities in the school program attempting to foster school spirit
• Show an interest in athletes in off-season activities and classroom efforts
• Teach good sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, and respect
• Ensure proper care and use of equipment
• File completed inventory with the Activity Director within two weeks after the completion of the season
• Follow proper transportation procedures
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, and team travel
• Assume responsibility for neatness of facilities and cooperation with custodians
• Display enthusiasm and exhibit interest in the school's activity program
• Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught
• Be well versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport
• Be prompt and organized concerning practice/contests
• Be innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to sound, already proven methods of coaching
• Provide leadership and an attitude that produce positive attitudes and results
• Ensure student safety and appropriate conduct during all activities per district policies
• Other responsibilities in this role assigned by Activities Director
• Reports to the Activity Director

• Teach age-appropriate football fundamentals, skills, strategies, teamwork, and sportsmanship
• Promote safety, sportsmanship, and discipline within the program
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other coaches to support the athletic program
• Ensure compliance with district policies and transportation procedures
