Job summary

Columbia Borough School District in Columbia, PA, seeks a Junior High Boys Basketball Assistant Coach for the Hill Campus. You will assist the head coach in planning practices, teaching skills, and guiding student athletes during games and travel, helping to build teamwork and competitive spirit.

You will monitor performance and academics, supervise safety, manage equipment, and coordinate logistics with coaches and parents.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practices, training sessions, and competitions.
• Teach and reinforce sports specific skills, techniques, and team strategies.
• Supervised student athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities.
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and positive character development.
• Provide encouragement, mentorship, and constructive feedback to student athletes.
• Assist with game preparation, opponent scouting, and in game coaching responsibilities.
• Help monitor student athlete performance, attendance, and academic progress.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of student athletes by following established safety procedures and protocols.
• Assist with setup, maintenance, inventory, and distribution of equipment and uniforms.
• Support compliance with league, school, organizational, and athletic department rules and policies.
• Communicate effectively with coaches, student athletes, parents, administrators, and officials.
• Assist with team logistics, scheduling, travel arrangements, and event coordination.
• Attend required meetings, practices, competitions, and professional development activities.
