Job summary

IBM Hardware and Systems engineers design and deliver compute platforms powering AI, cloud, and enterprise tech. You will work across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and materials engineering to prototype and test next-generation IBM hardware.

Role involves design, prototyping, DOE-driven analysis, and collaboration across disciplines to optimize cooling, manufacturability, and system reliability. Based in multiple U.S. locations including Poughkeepsie and Hopewell.

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher in a technical engineering field.
• Hands-on hardware design experience with CAD tools.
• Experience with DOE methods and data-driven problem solving.
• Familiarity with firmware, electronics, and materials science is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and validate next-generation compute systems.
• Develop mechanical, thermal, and electrical components using CAD/EDA tools.
• Build hardware prototypes, perform debug and reliability improvements.
• Model system-level performance and support manufacturing readiness.
